Our History
The Miss Nigeria pageant which began in 1957 is Nigeria’s oldest and most prestigious pageant, attracting hundreds of applicants annually. The pageant emerged in response to the realization that given the right platform, young Nigerian women can positively impact on society, drive positive change and inspire other young women across the continent.
The pageant has made remarkable strides since it was first established in 1957. What started out as a photo contest has evolved into an annual pageant, attracting thousands of applications from across the country and the diaspora. Through a pageant process, young women are selected and empowered with rich experiences, exposure to unique business and personal development opportunities and equipped with life skills.
The winner of the pageant portrays exemplary qualities in line with the values of the brand and serves as a role model to young women in Nigeria and beyond.
